A warm and welcoming family in Ithaca, NY is seeking a proactive, engaging Nanny/Family Assistant to support their two sweet and active daughters! After having the same nanny since the girls were very young, the family is looking for someone who can transition with the children into their school-age years and bring fresh energy, creativity, and engagement to their afternoons. With both parents balancing demanding careers and new professional opportunities, they are hoping to welcome a reliable caregiver who can help keep the girls active, entertained, and supported after school.
The primary focus of this role will be after-school care and transportation. Responsibilities helping the girls transition home from their day, coordinating playdates, preparing simple dinners, assisting with baths, and keeping them engaged through crafts, baking, games, outdoor play, and local outings. The family would love a nanny who enjoys planning activities and exploring the Ithaca/Trumansburg area, and that is excited to build a strong & lasting relationship!
In addition to childcare, the role may include light Family Assistant support such as grocery shopping, laundry, meal prep, and helping with household organization. The family already has a wonderful cleaning person, so the household responsibilities are intended to complement childcare rather than function as a full housekeeping role. The schedule can be flexible depending on the candidate, and during the summer months, the girls attend camp for some weeks and are home for others, but the family anticipates maintaining a similar schedule.
The family is hoping to find someone who will encourage less screen time and instead keep the girls engaged through hands-on activities. A caregiver who is comfortable taking initiative, planning outings, and finding fun things to do without needing a lot of direction will be a great fit. Basic swimming skills and comfort around the water are important, as the family enjoys spending time at the lake during the warmer months. The family has also recently welcomed kittens, so occasional help with feeding them may be needed.
This is a wonderful opportunity for a nanny who enjoys working with school-age children, appreciates creative and active afternoons, and is excited to become a trusted and supportive presence in a close-knit family. The family is ideally looking for someone interested in making a long-term commitment and becoming a meaningful part of the girls’ lives.
Requirements:
2+ years of professional childcare experience
Safe and reliable vehicle
CPR/First Aid certified
Willingness to make a long-term commitment
