A kind, upbeat, and flexible family in Rochester, NY is seeking an engaging Nanny/Family Assistant to care for their bright and outgoing son as he transitions into kindergarten this fall! This is a wonderful opportunity for a caregiver who enjoys staying active, getting out into the community, and fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for a curious young child.
During the school year, the primary focus of this role will be after-school care. Responsibilities include school pick-up (exact timing TBD based on school placement), engaging their son in fun and enriching activities, and enjoying outings to local parks, playgrounds, and family memberships such as the Science Center or Strong Museum of Play. Their son thrives when he is active and engaged, so a nanny who enjoys planning outings and exploring the community will be a great fit!
In addition to childcare, the role includes light Family Assistant tasks such as preparing simple snacks, assisting with the child’s laundry (approximately once per week), and occasional light tidying. The family is open to expanding hours during the summer months, with a more full-day schedule and the opportunity to incorporate additional household support while maintaining a childcare focus.
Their son is a bright and enthusiastic child who loves basketball, music, magic, and hands-on activities like games and activity books. He has a stutter disorder and benefits from a patient and understanding caregiver who can give him the time and space he needs to communicate confidently. The family describes their parenting style as flexible, with an emphasis on giving their child choices and allowing him space to process emotions independently. The ideal candidate will align with this approach. The family also has a friendly rescue dog who may take a little time to warm up to new people, and requires very minimal care.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a nanny who enjoys working with an active, engaged child and is excited to grow with a flexible and welcoming family!
