A warm, thoughtful family in Brighton, NY is seeking an engaging, calm, and experienced nanny to care for their two young children from January through the end of March, with the possibility to extend! Their beloved current nanny is relocating, and they hope to welcome a caregiver who is reliable, communicative, and excited to step into a home that values connection, gentle guidance, and Montessori-inspired routines.
This role will focus primarily on their youngest, a curious and sweet 15-month-old who is in physical therapy for low muscle tone and benefits from mindful, developmentally supportive care. He is beginning to pull to stand, explore, and enjoys being out and about—whether that’s story time, walks, or simple outings. A nanny who understands how to safely support a child with gross motor stability (two-hand holds, sturdy carrying, and patient guidance) will be a wonderful match.
Their older child, a bright and imaginative preschooler, attends a local school during the day, and the nanny will assist with morning drop-offs and occasional pick-ups, as well as care during days off and school breaks. He loves music, jokes, imaginative play, books, and learning!
The family describes themselves as “on the scrunchy side”— favoring simple meals prepared with whole foods, gentle parenting (with boundaries!), and Montessori principles. They appreciate a nanny who is warm, flexible, fun, and an excellent communicator. While their home has structure, they value someone who can go with the flow of the day, run the occasional errand with the kids, and create a relaxed but safe environment. Safety and proactive communication are top priorities.
During naps and as time allows, the family would love support with light tidying up, assistance with dishes, laundry, and light meal prep. They also have a very sweet dog who might enjoy joining in on the occasional walk, weather permitting. Their family cat is low-maintenance and may rarely be seen, but comfort working around animals is required.
This temporary role may extend beyond March (with ample notice) into a more part-time or family-assistant-style position once their youngest begins school, and the family would love to build a long-term relationship with a caregiver who may be open to future date nights, intermittent help, or ongoing part-time hours.
This is a wonderful opportunity for a developmentally-minded, adaptable, and warm nanny seeking a temporary position with the potential to become a trusted, long-term caregiver!
Requirements:
2+ years of professional childcare experience
CPR/First Aid certified (or willingness to obtain)
Experience with toddlers and/or children with mild motor delays preferred
Safe and reliable vehicle
Ability to commit to the full contract length
