Role Overview
The House Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing the daily operations of a multi-residence private household. The HM will manage 4-5 large properties in the Rochester and Finger Lakes region, and should have prior, similar experience managing an estate of this size. Reporting to the Director of Residences, this individual ensures seamless coordination between staff, vendors, and principals while maintaining the highest standards of service, organization, and discretion.

The ideal candidate embodies “white glove” service—anticipating needs with poise, exercising excellent judgment, and knowing when to step in or step back to preserve the family’s privacy while ensuring every detail is handled with care.

Schedule & Expectations
The family is in residence approximately 3–4 months per year (May–October).
During this time, the House Manager must be flexible and available for extended hours, including evenings and weekends, and remain on-call for emergencies year-round. When the family is not in residence, some responsibilities may be managed remotely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and schedule the housekeeping team, ensuring consistent cleanliness and organization.

  • Manage household inventories, procurement, and vendor relationships across multiple properties.

  • Oversee property inspections, maintenance coordination, and construction/design support.

  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff with professionalism and integrity.

  • Manage calendars, appointments, medications, and travel logistics.

  • Assist with special events, pet care, family vehicle maintenance, and seasonal moves.

  • Support or oversee meal planning and preparation in line with dietary needs.

Qualifications

  • Previous high-level private home or estate management experience required.

  • Proven ability to deliver white glove service with discretion and attention to detail.

  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.

  • Tech-savvy; comfortable with Microsoft Office and digital recordkeeping.

  • Physically able to lift up to 30 lbs and perform repetitive tasks.

  • Must sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) as a condition of employment.

This is a unique opportunity for a polished, service-minded professional to support a sophisticated household with a strong commitment to excellence.
