A warm, playful family in Manlius, NY is looking for an exceptional nanny to support their bright, imaginative, and neurodivergent 7-year-old! The family is seeking someone who can build trust slowly and respectfully, starting with a gradual onboarding process and time to observe, connect, and co-create a rhythm together.
The ideal candidate is calm, emotionally attuned, and deeply respectful of neurodivergent needs, and who isn’t afraid to be silly and imaginative! This family embraces a child-led, neuroaffirming parenting approach and is looking for someone who can follow their child’s lead, and who is more interested in connection and curiosity than control or correction.
This family nurtures their child's need for autonomy through a flexible, playful environment with few rules beyond those needed for health and safety. They’re seeking a caregiver who is open-minded and curious, who values learning, and who’s willing to adapt and grow alongside their son. While experience supporting neurodivergent kids is appreciated, it’s not required. What matters most is your presence, mindset, and willingness to learn!
The schedule is flexible and will likely range between 25–35 hours/week, depending on school attendance and the family’s evolving needs. The family anticipates that their son may be homeschooled (parent’s will cover all formal homeschooling) or attend school only part-time. If attending school, the role may include school pickup and/or light household support. The family looks forward to finding a schedule and rhythm that works well for all parties! Occasional local outings, like trips to the bookstore or ice cream shop, are welcome when their child is feeling up for it.
Both parents are college professors who work from home 2-3 days per week, and have a history of forming warm, respectful relationships with past caregivers. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for a caregiver who values meaningful connection, neurodiversity-affirming care, and being part of a supportive and thoughtful home. If you are patient, playful, and excited to be part of a team that leads with empathy and kindness, we would love to hear from you!
